Lindenwood Security

I don't understand how Wade Hampton can be so naive this campus is not safe. Hey let's implement a text messaging service so that we can protect our students. No maybe have security guards that aren't retards. What a bunch of freaking idiots. Immense must have changed dedinitons in the past ten years. If you don't know what i'm talking about you need to read Lindenwood's Legacy paper that came out today. If youcan't read Legacy sorry you're out of luck

Naked Man superglued to bike

A gang stripped a South African man before supergluing him to an exercise bicycle while they ransacked his house, according to a report Thursday.

I don't know what else to say except.......HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Fire Alarm

Just to give you a little background. In the first edition of the Legacy Newspaper President Evans said that our campus was very safe and secure and that our security officers were good. Fast foward to last night when the fire alarm in my dorm went off a 1:48 am. Now I know that there is actually a fire the dorm will burn to the ground so i grab my computer. Everyone filed out and stood there waiting for the security to come. What time did they get there? Well the first "security guard" came at 2:00 am which is 12 minutes after the slarm went off. And the second came at 2:12. Thirty minutes after the alarm first went off. That made me feel really safe. What made me feel even more safe is the fact that my RD wasn't even there. I HATE THIS SCHOOL!

NFL Draft

The NFL Draft was this weekend. It might be the most long drawn out thing I have ever seen and I didn't even watch it. Why does it have to take 2 days to get through it. It eoesn't make any sense whatsoever. But who am I? I'm not some multi million dollar corporation trying to make money. So I guess that's what separates me from them. Or maybe I'm just bitter that I don't make millions of dollars a year.

Drunk Guy and Stupid Boy

A drunk guy parked himself as well as his horse in a bank in Germany. He was too drunk to make it home and decided to sleep in the lobby of a bank. No charges were filed, but apparently the horse made a desposit of his own (pun intended). Another funny story is a little 2 year old got a traing toilet seat stuck on his head and they had to use liquid soap to get it off. Oh the things that happen in Europe. Bunch of Crazy MOFO's

Crow and Global Warming

Sheryl Crow and Laurie David just finished a 12 capmus tour to stop global warming. They toured around playing music and apparently making money. I don't understand how they can get support while just 2 weeks ago it was colder than a witch's brass knocker in the midwest. It's just now starting to get warm and April is almost over. I guess I just don't understand, but I guess I don't have too.

Shooter Manifesto

I continue to be horrified by the events that transpired on Monday morning. NBC received what they call a "multimedia manifesto" from the killer. They have the video posted on their website along with all of the photos. The video is very chilling and frightening. This kid was very troubled. He was sent to a mental institute in 2005. Which makes me wonder how he got a gun to perform these horrible act. The photos sent with the manifesto were just as frightening as the video. 13 photos sent with him holding guns, a knife, and a hammer. With a face of bitterness and anger. This kid was a psycho with a history of mental illness. It scares me to think someone like this can get a gun so easily. We all must pray that something like this doesn't happen again. And for goodness sake let's treat people right so that they don't get this bitter. Some people will no matter what, but most of these people are pushed there from being bulied or left out. Care for your fellow student. If you would like to watch the video or see the photos visit this link. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18169776/

Va Tech

I am horrified about what happened yesterday morning in Blacksburg, Virginia. Now, for those with your head in the sand and have no idea what i'm talking about I will inform you. Yesterday morning around 7:15 am a shooter shot two girls in dormitory on the Va Tech campus. Instead of cancelling classes like they should've done knowing that they didn't have the shooter in custody, Va Tech administration decided to allow classes to proceed. Oh, but they sent an email out to warn faculty and students right as the second shooting started in Norris Hall on the other side of the 2,600 acre campus. At about 9:25 a South Korean senior opened fire on several classrooms of students. This raises several questions for me. One, as compared to Va Tech a huge school with a full security staff that still handled the situation very poorly how does Lindenwood stack up. The answer is IT DOESN'T. We have the worst security "force" probably of any school in the US. The only real function of the crack security force at Lindenwood is to write tickets out to people who are parked right or who don't have parking passes. Oh and to break up parties. They are in no way trained or equipped to handle any sort of a crisis. And President Evans expects us to believe that RAs and RDs are also security officers. Give me a freaking break. I'm about sick of that BS. Second point, Lindenwood's administration to student communication is even worse than Va Tech's is. No one knows anything at this school. We have to rely on Eric Click to help us out. God forbid they actually spend some money to get information distributed some how. It would have been much worse if if had been Lindenwood. Third and finally, how did a S.Korean student over here on a student visa get two 9mm hand guns with that much ammunition. He shouldn't even be close to a gun. Much less have two. Apparently, according to one story i read he had a receipt for one of the guns in his backpack. This is just ridiculous. No international student should be allowed near a gun. I don't care what the reason is. And they especially not be allowed to buy one from a respected gun carrier. This is a national security issue. We need to do a better job of making sure these psychos don't get guns and start shooting people. Alright that's all i have. I'm really frustrated and hungry so i'm going to go eat.

Disturbia

So Mr. Even stevens is finally making real entertainment. Shia LaBeouf stars in this thriller about a teenager who peeps on his neighbor killing women. I haven't seen it yet but I will as soon as I can. It was number one this weekend grossing 23 million dollars. Apparently this only the first of many films this year from Shia. He will be starring in the Transformers movie. Which in my personal opinion looks dumb. So good Shia glad you finally came out of the kiddie world.

Imus

Now let me preface this whole post by saying that what Don Imus was said was an asinine remark that he should not have said. He's an old man who is not funny. Shock Jocks rarely are. BUT..... I don't think that he should have been fired from his job. He had said other things like this before and he had never been fired so why now? Let me again reiterate that I don't think what he said was right in any way. He shouldn't have said, but what happened to free speech in this country. He made a racist comment he didn't go out and kill anyone. He apologized again and again. But that isn't enough especially for the two most racist people in America. Jesse Jackson and the "Reverend" Al Sharpton. These two jokers have made more Anti-Semitic comments over the years than anyone in the public eye and even Imus. Examples of what Sharpton has called Jews "Diamond Merchants", "White Interlopers". Now what gives them the right to tell us how to act. Also, shouldn't they apologize for calling those Duke Lacrosse players rapists when they have proven innocent. And not only that the prosecutor lied, stealed, and cheated to get them convicted. Luckily someone in North Carolina was doing their job and stopped it. Also, about Imus' comments that that remark came from the black community. THEY DO!! If you listen to rap the degregation of women is so prevalent it's sickening. Now I'm not saying I don't enjoy rap because I do. But you can't tell me that those rappers don't treat women like pieces of meat. They also say much worse things than nappy headed hoes in those songs. Ludicrus actually has a song called Ho. And how does Sharpton justify it? He says that they don't have an open air wave that they can talk on. What are the radio stations that those songs are played on Mr. Sharpton? I'm so sick of these two coming out every time someone in the black community gets offended. They are the reason there is racism in America. Because of their protests people have been killed. Look it up it's true. Imus just made a jackass remark. He shouldn't have said it. But he shouldn't have been fired.

Sanjaya

What can I say about this kid other than......flaming homosexual. This guy is a douche of epic proportions. I finally watched him sing last night and everything I had been hearing on the radio about him proved true. I think I might join the hunger strike that the one girl is on until he gets voted off. Not only did J-Lo like him which gives me reason enough to hate him, but the entire time he was singing his song (which most of was in Spanish) he was looking into the camera with his gay smirk. It pissed me off so much. I almost threw something at the TV. Plus when the judges were like "that was awesome" I threw up in my mouth. Even Simon Cowell said he was good. I say we all go on a hunger strike. This guy shouldn't be American Idol and what's sadder is he will probably win because that's how pathetic America has become. The fact that people actually watch this show is horrid. And the fact that J-Lo is invited is aweful. What has she done lately to further the music scene. In fact what has she ever done for the industry. Oh that's right given us crap. I think we should take a stand against bad TV programs and send them to the back of our minds. STOP GIVING THESE PEOPLE MONEY AMERICA!!!

Blades of Glory

Blades of Glory which is a movie about male pairs figure skaters Chazz Michael Michael and Jimmy McElroy was atop the box office yet again this week. I saw this movie and it was hilarious. Will Ferrell maybe the funniest man alive. Jenna Fischer was also in this movie which was awesome. For those of you who are not very smart and don't watch the office shw plays pam beasley the receptionist. She is great in her role in both cases. I would recommend going to see this movie. It is just another installment of Will Ferrell's greatness. The supporting cast is awesome too. Go see it. It won't disappoint.

Cardinals

Ok, so what is up with the Cardinals. I know that it's only the second game of the season, but they have shown no signs of life as of yet. We scored one run last night. ONE RUN. That is just ridiculous. We should be slamming the ball right now. I guess they will start playing soon hopefully. Also, was Tony Larussa still drunk when he decided to start So TAguchi the first game. That guy is horrible. W have Scott Spiezio and Chris Duncan sitting on the bench and we have So Taguchi playing intead. This just doesn't make any sense to me. Well I guess it will all get worked out. Go Cards!

Barack Obama

So Obama is the democratic frontrunner (at least in my mind) for the presidential race in '08. Something concerns me with him. He's too perfect. Kind of like the Anti-Christ. Now granted he isn't from the middle east and his birth wasn't strange although his father cheated on another woman to have sex with his mother and later on married another woman. His rise to power was seemingly overnight. Much like the Anti-CHrist's rise will be. It's kind of creepy I must say. But hey he's definitely better than Hillary Clinton. God help us if she is elected. I might move to Canada if that happens.

Portfolio

In my senior seminar class we have to turn in a portfolio. It has to contain "professional examples". This is fine for me because i'm at an internship and i have examples that i can use. But what about people who don't have any examples? What do they do? Also, why do employers expect you to have all of this great work right our of high school. I think that they need to give graduates a few more opportunities to prove themselvse.

Mmm... Pi

Some people are such nerds. Today 3-14 is national Pi day. Today 3.14 is when all the aoclytes of the church of pi, as they call themselves, get together in one giant nerd fest and talk about the number pi. Well, really it is a string of numbers that is over a trillion numbers long. They eat pi related foods and have pi reciting contests. What is it about some people. They concentrate on such trivial things. There has even been a movie written about it. I just don't get some obsessions. I mean these people are crazy. They justify it by asking why do people climb Mount Everest, because it's there. Give me a freaking break. Studying a number is not the same accomplishment as climbing the biggest mountain in the world. That's insane. One 60 year old Japanese mental health counselor, anyone see the irony, said that he is very interested in the story of pi. WHAT STORY?!!! It's a number that goes on forever and has no discernible pattern. What a waste of time. In fact it's such a waste of time that I'm going to stop talking about it right now ms to not add to the cause.

Ants Testing Non Violence of Monks

Buddhism is a religion of nonviolence and the monks in the faith have to take a vow of nonviolence and never hurt a living thing. I would assume this also means they are vegetarians and probably vegans. What a shame. Anyhow, the monks in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia have a problem. They have an infestation of red ants which are stinging the monks, and causing many problems. The monks are trying to figure out how to rid the monastery of the ants without killing them. I'm pretty sure that it is not possible. One of the methods they tried, which seems like it would hurt the animals, was sucking up the ants into a vacuum. That didn't work. One of the worshippers at the temple got bit so bad that he had to get hospital treatment. I'm just not understanding why they are doing this. Why don't they just kill the stupid things. It's seems unhealthy to let the ants stay there. It's funny some of the legalistic dumb rules that some religions have. I guess it helps them for some of the time, but at this time I think they should forget about the vow and KILL THE ANTS!! I'm sure they won't get too many demerits.

March Madness

March Madness is finally here. I'm pretty pumped about it even though good ole' Mizzou didn't make it in this year. I really think that the month of March should be a national holiday month where no one works. I mean with March madness here and baseball season gearing up there's hardly anytime to work anyways. Now for my predictions. I'm going to say North Carolina is oging to win this year. That is all.

91 year old wants to fight

On the top 4 stories for Yahoo! news today was a story of a man from Maine who wants to box fitness guru Jack Lalanne. The catch here is that both of the gentlemen are over 90 years old! This is so ridiculous. I think the gentleman from Maine, Roland Fortin, has been sniffing glue or something. What makes this guy think that he's able to box when he's over 90 years old. Both of them would be stupid trying to fight. Also, Yahoo can you please find better headlines. Apparently you guys had nothing else to report on today. Put this in the odd news or something. Not in the main news that suppose to be things that are pertinent to the world. No one cares about this except the two people involved and other old people who live in Florida. This is all a publicity stunt for the gym where this guy works out. The worst part about it is it is working. The membership at this gym has gone up since announcing the fight. People need to find better things to do. Go drive really slow or something. Or play shuffleboard. Stop wasting everyone's time.

Piece of Earth Missing?!! Oh NO!!

So apparently, there is a huge piece of the Earth missing somewhere in the middle of the Atantic Ocean. Usually these gaps are filled with volcanoes, but not this time. But really what is the issue? The issue is that a huge piece of earth is missing! Where did it go? Did someone steal it? We don't know that's why we're sending a team of people to check it out. Oh I hope they figure it out or this will be the end of the earth. I hope you're picking up on my sarcasm. WHO CARES?!!

James Cameron

Last week Discovery Channel said that they would be airing a James Cameron (the guy who did titanic)documentary in which he reports on an archaelogical dig in 1930 where they found the "tomb of Jesus". Cameron said that he believes that bones found inside the boxex were those of Jesus and possibly his wife and son. What is this guy bext friends with Dan Brown? Give me a break. Cmaerson also had the idiocy to say that he was not trying to make a case against Christianity. He was quoted as saying, “I think there will certainly be those that will say we are attempting to in some way undermine Christianity, but that’s really very, very far from the case.” How does he think that he's not making a case against Christianity. The basis of Christianity is that Jesus lived on earth, died on the cross, and then rose from the dead. Also, that he was sinless. If these archaeologists found the Jesus' bones then that shatters that notion now doesn't it. Now I don't know how Jesus having a wife and son exactly shatters all Christian belief, but it is something that has been taught by the Christian church for years. But why do we have to listen to something from James Camerson? He made Titanic. So what? Does that make him a crdible documentarian? I doubt it. Plus that movie sucked. I'm a Christian, and I'm not threatened by this documentary. It's not going to shake my beliefs, but come on Hollywood. Aren't you guys getting tired of trying to destroy the country. Do these executives sit in their offices and say "What can we make today that will try to put down those pesky Christians?" Think of something more creative Hollywood. That's what we pay you for.

Interning

Interning is maybe one of the most boring things you could ever do with your life. Sometimes, yes, you do have some excitement. But right now i'm just sitting here trying to pass time till i get to leave. The problem is my supervisor is too busy to keep me busy. I try to find things to do but there's only so much i can do. I really hope this semester will be over soon b/c I can't take much more. I'm way to busy to even enjoy my life right now. Well I guess I'll just plug through till the summer. I'll get through it, and be even closer to graduating which is sweet.

The Oscars

Ahh.. the Oscars. Maybe the most pretentious awards show of them all. I watched only a few minutes of the Oscars, and i almost stabbed myself in the eye with a pencil. Now granted i think that the academy finally got some things right with the awards (except for The Inconvenient Truth, which shouldn't have even been a movie). I tried to sit through Leo and Al and their lame jokes but almost threw up. But alas, that is what we have to live with nowadays. Pretentious liberals who think they have all the answers and will stomp on your face if you don't agree with them. Granted The Departed deserved the Oscar that it got and Scorscese got what he deserved finally, but other than that. The Oscars were too long and sucky.

What Color is Your Parachute?

http://www.shop4author.com/Images/Products/158008/7949.jpg

I've started reading the book assigned to our class for Senior Seminar. It is entitled "What Color is Your Parachute?". Though it has nothing to do with parachutes and specifically my parachute it does offer some great advice for job hunting. I would suggest if you need a job, that you check out this book. It's a great help so far.

Sick People

Yesterday I saw on the news that Michael Devlin has been charged with over 70 accounts of sexual assault. This is amazing to me. How can someone like this be allowed to even have a trial. I mean I know the judicial system has to give him a "fair and reasonable" trial. But can he even get a trial that is fair and reasonable. The man is a freak. He kept one boy for 4 years and then kidnapped another one. It has been all over national news. No matter where they try to move the jury too he's not going to get what his lawyers want. And should he? The evidence is stacked so heavily against him I can't imagine that he is going to get anything less than life in prison. And even at that he won't last very long in prison.
My roommate's dad is a prosecuting attorney for Saint Louis County. He worked on the Devlin case and says there were things that the boys told them that were unbelievable. I really hope that our judicial system, that has sometimes not been just in my feeling, will be just in this matter and at the very least sentence this slime ball to life in prison. It just sickens me that someone would do something like this to little children. How can they get away with it. I just don't know how their conscious allows it.
Some people just really make me sick. I thank God that these boys got away and didn't get "seriously" hurt. I hope that this brings light on how we need to watch out for our children so that this kind of things don't continue to happen.

About Me

My name is Phil Haas. I'm 22 and 2 semesters away from graduating from Lindenwood University. My degree is in Mass Communications. I am officially emphasizing in Public Relations, but I also have an interest in Advertising, Marketing, and Media Sales. I have taken or am taking classes in all these fields. I feel these classes will help me immensely to broaden my knowledge and skills in the Media world. I can't wait to get a job in the real world so that I can show what I am capable of.
I am currently interning at Christian High School in O'Fallon, Missouri. There I have been in contact with several media sources helping to brand the Living Word Christian Schools name into the Saint Charles County community. I feel that this internship is giving me a wealth of real world experience. I am learning how to deal with deadlines and dealing with various medias.
