Portfolio

In my senior seminar class we have to turn in a portfolio. It has to contain "professional examples". This is fine for me because i'm at an internship and i have examples that i can use. But what about people who don't have any examples? What do they do? Also, why do employers expect you to have all of this great work right our of high school. I think that they need to give graduates a few more opportunities to prove themselvse.

Mmm... Pi

Some people are such nerds. Today 3-14 is national Pi day. Today 3.14 is when all the aoclytes of the church of pi, as they call themselves, get together in one giant nerd fest and talk about the number pi. Well, really it is a string of numbers that is over a trillion numbers long. They eat pi related foods and have pi reciting contests. What is it about some people. They concentrate on such trivial things. There has even been a movie written about it. I just don't get some obsessions. I mean these people are crazy. They justify it by asking why do people climb Mount Everest, because it's there. Give me a freaking break. Studying a number is not the same accomplishment as climbing the biggest mountain in the world. That's insane. One 60 year old Japanese mental health counselor, anyone see the irony, said that he is very interested in the story of pi. WHAT STORY?!!! It's a number that goes on forever and has no discernible pattern. What a waste of time. In fact it's such a waste of time that I'm going to stop talking about it right now ms to not add to the cause.

Ants Testing Non Violence of Monks

Buddhism is a religion of nonviolence and the monks in the faith have to take a vow of nonviolence and never hurt a living thing. I would assume this also means they are vegetarians and probably vegans. What a shame. Anyhow, the monks in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia have a problem. They have an infestation of red ants which are stinging the monks, and causing many problems. The monks are trying to figure out how to rid the monastery of the ants without killing them. I'm pretty sure that it is not possible. One of the methods they tried, which seems like it would hurt the animals, was sucking up the ants into a vacuum. That didn't work. One of the worshippers at the temple got bit so bad that he had to get hospital treatment. I'm just not understanding why they are doing this. Why don't they just kill the stupid things. It's seems unhealthy to let the ants stay there. It's funny some of the legalistic dumb rules that some religions have. I guess it helps them for some of the time, but at this time I think they should forget about the vow and KILL THE ANTS!! I'm sure they won't get too many demerits.

March Madness

March Madness is finally here. I'm pretty pumped about it even though good ole' Mizzou didn't make it in this year. I really think that the month of March should be a national holiday month where no one works. I mean with March madness here and baseball season gearing up there's hardly anytime to work anyways. Now for my predictions. I'm going to say North Carolina is oging to win this year. That is all.

91 year old wants to fight

On the top 4 stories for Yahoo! news today was a story of a man from Maine who wants to box fitness guru Jack Lalanne. The catch here is that both of the gentlemen are over 90 years old! This is so ridiculous. I think the gentleman from Maine, Roland Fortin, has been sniffing glue or something. What makes this guy think that he's able to box when he's over 90 years old. Both of them would be stupid trying to fight. Also, Yahoo can you please find better headlines. Apparently you guys had nothing else to report on today. Put this in the odd news or something. Not in the main news that suppose to be things that are pertinent to the world. No one cares about this except the two people involved and other old people who live in Florida. This is all a publicity stunt for the gym where this guy works out. The worst part about it is it is working. The membership at this gym has gone up since announcing the fight. People need to find better things to do. Go drive really slow or something. Or play shuffleboard. Stop wasting everyone's time.

Piece of Earth Missing?!! Oh NO!!

So apparently, there is a huge piece of the Earth missing somewhere in the middle of the Atantic Ocean. Usually these gaps are filled with volcanoes, but not this time. But really what is the issue? The issue is that a huge piece of earth is missing! Where did it go? Did someone steal it? We don't know that's why we're sending a team of people to check it out. Oh I hope they figure it out or this will be the end of the earth. I hope you're picking up on my sarcasm. WHO CARES?!!

James Cameron

Last week Discovery Channel said that they would be airing a James Cameron (the guy who did titanic)documentary in which he reports on an archaelogical dig in 1930 where they found the "tomb of Jesus". Cameron said that he believes that bones found inside the boxex were those of Jesus and possibly his wife and son. What is this guy bext friends with Dan Brown? Give me a break. Cmaerson also had the idiocy to say that he was not trying to make a case against Christianity. He was quoted as saying, “I think there will certainly be those that will say we are attempting to in some way undermine Christianity, but that’s really very, very far from the case.” How does he think that he's not making a case against Christianity. The basis of Christianity is that Jesus lived on earth, died on the cross, and then rose from the dead. Also, that he was sinless. If these archaeologists found the Jesus' bones then that shatters that notion now doesn't it. Now I don't know how Jesus having a wife and son exactly shatters all Christian belief, but it is something that has been taught by the Christian church for years. But why do we have to listen to something from James Camerson? He made Titanic. So what? Does that make him a crdible documentarian? I doubt it. Plus that movie sucked. I'm a Christian, and I'm not threatened by this documentary. It's not going to shake my beliefs, but come on Hollywood. Aren't you guys getting tired of trying to destroy the country. Do these executives sit in their offices and say "What can we make today that will try to put down those pesky Christians?" Think of something more creative Hollywood. That's what we pay you for.

Interning

Interning is maybe one of the most boring things you could ever do with your life. Sometimes, yes, you do have some excitement. But right now i'm just sitting here trying to pass time till i get to leave. The problem is my supervisor is too busy to keep me busy. I try to find things to do but there's only so much i can do. I really hope this semester will be over soon b/c I can't take much more. I'm way to busy to even enjoy my life right now. Well I guess I'll just plug through till the summer. I'll get through it, and be even closer to graduating which is sweet.
