The Oscars
Ahh.. the Oscars. Maybe the most pretentious awards show of them all. I watched only a few minutes of the Oscars, and i almost stabbed myself in the eye with a pencil. Now granted i think that the academy finally got some things right with the awards (except for The Inconvenient Truth, which shouldn't have even been a movie). I tried to sit through Leo and Al and their lame jokes but almost threw up. But alas, that is what we have to live with nowadays. Pretentious liberals who think they have all the answers and will stomp on your face if you don't agree with them. Granted The Departed deserved the Oscar that it got and Scorscese got what he deserved finally, but other than that. The Oscars were too long and sucky.

What Color is Your Parachute?

I've started reading the book assigned to our class for Senior Seminar. It is entitled "What Color is Your Parachute?". Though it has nothing to do with parachutes and specifically my parachute it does offer some great advice for job hunting. I would suggest if you need a job, that you check out this book. It's a great help so far.

Sick People

Yesterday I saw on the news that Michael Devlin has been charged with over 70 accounts of sexual assault. This is amazing to me. How can someone like this be allowed to even have a trial. I mean I know the judicial system has to give him a "fair and reasonable" trial. But can he even get a trial that is fair and reasonable. The man is a freak. He kept one boy for 4 years and then kidnapped another one. It has been all over national news. No matter where they try to move the jury too he's not going to get what his lawyers want. And should he? The evidence is stacked so heavily against him I can't imagine that he is going to get anything less than life in prison. And even at that he won't last very long in prison.
My roommate's dad is a prosecuting attorney for Saint Louis County. He worked on the Devlin case and says there were things that the boys told them that were unbelievable. I really hope that our judicial system, that has sometimes not been just in my feeling, will be just in this matter and at the very least sentence this slime ball to life in prison. It just sickens me that someone would do something like this to little children. How can they get away with it. I just don't know how their conscious allows it.
Some people just really make me sick. I thank God that these boys got away and didn't get "seriously" hurt. I hope that this brings light on how we need to watch out for our children so that this kind of things don't continue to happen.

About Me
My name is Phil Haas. I'm 22 and 2 semesters away from graduating from Lindenwood University. My degree is in Mass Communications. I am officially emphasizing in Public Relations, but I also have an interest in Advertising, Marketing, and Media Sales. I have taken or am taking classes in all these fields. I feel these classes will help me immensely to broaden my knowledge and skills in the Media world. I can't wait to get a job in the real world so that I can show what I am capable of.
I am currently interning at Christian High School in O'Fallon, Missouri. There I have been in contact with several media sources helping to brand the Living Word Christian Schools name into the Saint Charles County community. I feel that this internship is giving me a wealth of real world experience. I am learning how to deal with deadlines and dealing with various medias.
